The Charlotte John

As many of you are aware, there was a shooting this weekend in Uptown Charlotte. The shooting took place Saturday night at the CATS bus center. I've written about this place before, about how I can never walk by it without being asked for money, etc...and I have to say that this latest incident might just spell the end of me having to fear walking near this place. Why? Because the shooting is a fucking embarrassment and someone's ass will be had for it. Not only was it a major tourist weekend, but the CATS center is directly across from the very site that President Obama will be visiting in 2012. I'm sure the last fucking thing anyone wants to read in Washington is about how 70 gang members refused police orders, slung gang signs, and murdered someone on the doorstep to Time Warner Cable Arena. I'm not a white supremacist, but this next part will sound a hell of a lot like I am. Read More to Continue.

Yesterday was my day for grilling, drinking beer, and watching golf. Enjoy your Memorial Day.

Yea, so it turns out that Matthew Hill wasn't actually missing. He just hates his friends, jobs, and life so he decided to take a break from it all. I have no problem with this other than the fact that he might have wanted to let everyone know how much he hates them so they wouldn't spend their time looking for his ass.

Always sad to hear when someone goes missing...like Matthew Hill has. I know Washington D.C. quite well and I don't have a particularly good feeling about his disappearance. Many of you have heard the reports from various media outlets, but if you have not, you can read this article on the Charlotte Observer. If you have any information pertaining to his whereabouts, please contact your local authorities.

My Sunday started with a trip to the Midnight Diner for some breakfast. I debated going to the Pancake House, but being that it doesn't open until 7am...I figured that the Midnight Diner was my best bet. Was I concerned it would be packed with early-risers from Speed Street? Yes. My fears subsided when I walked in and found the place relatively empty. With the sun rising, and food on the way, life sucked a little less. If you go to the Midnight Diner, may I recommend the Midnight Special. Two eggs, hash browns, and pancakes for $8.99. It is a lot of food.
Anyways, I assume many of you will be headed to the lake this afternoon to enjoy your Memorial Day weekend. Yes, yes I'm sure Lake Norman will be swarmed with hot chicks pounding Bud Lite and talking about how'd they love to own a house on the lake. Then there are the dudes pretending to listen and wondering how the fuck they'd ever afford to buy a house on the lake. Anyways, there is something about seeing a girl jump in the water to take a piss that kind of creeps me out. Don't let that image, however, deter you from having a great day. Please don't drown...it tends to dominate the local news and I am just not in the mood to hear about your untimely death today. Cool? Good.

Not being the biggest NASCAR fan, Speed Street isn't exactly an annual event I mark on my calendar. It is a good excuse, however, to roam the street of Uptown Charlotte with an ice cold beer in hand. With that thought in mind, I headed out around 1:30pm to see what the fuck was going on. A brief thunderstorm an hour earlier would quell the crowds so I thought, but alas, there was a very good turnout. Read More to Continue.

I walked around Uptown yesterday with the objective of making my way over to the Duke Energy Tower. I'd had yet to walk around inside the relatively new tower, and wanted to scope it out. Sadly, I neglected to bring my camera but will return to capture some images. As I approached the building I took in its' modern neighbor, the Mint Museum Uptown building. Being that it was closed, I couldn't walk around inside...but the outside of the building looks impressive. I had never really stopped to appreciate it. For more information about the place, and for images, you can click here. I highly recommend you take some time to visit this place. Anyways, there isn't much to see upon entering the Duke Tower lobby except security guards. There was, however, a small coffee shop on the ground level that got my attention. I grabbed some coffee and asked the lady at the check-out counter how business has been. She told me that her little stand didn't get that much action...which was surprising seeing that she had a monopoly on the space. The real reason her place isn't booming though is because the building itself isn't that full. I'm sure in the coming months they will begin to fill this behemoth with staffers. Good morning. Here is your picture of the day fuckers.

Around 6am this morning I decided to drag my fat ass on a walk. The city is quite peaceful around that time in the morning. It is a very short walk for me to get to the Showmars inside the Hearst Tower, and it is frequently my place of choice for breakfast. The food is delicious, the price is right, and I am usually the only fucking person in the joint. There aren't many times when you can walk Uptown to eat and be left entirely alone. When it happens, it's a beautiful thing. After eating, I walked outside and shot a picture of the sun bouncing off the Hearst Tower...I look at said photo and thought, "that ain't fucking bad". That folks, is the theme for the day. Read More for Pictures.

Good morning. I was reading the news recently, as I am one to do, and noticed this article on CNN. It is all about how Americans work to goddam hard, etc. I've been to Europe many times and know firsthand that those people don't do shit. Sure they work, but their mindset is all fucked up. I don't like it...I just don't. America is great because we work our asses of at being great. However, part of me feels the need to be less great and leave the homeland to go abroad for a vacation. Should I spend my money on American soil? You're goddam right I should...and I like where your head it at...but alas, I won't. I don't know where I'll travel to yet...but the thought of vacation becomes more and more prevalent in my mind with each passing day.
