The Charlotte John

Oh Lucy Pinder, how I love thee.

Good morning. My plan today is go visit the construction site of the Skye Condominium building here in Uptown. I've past by the site before, but never really taken a close look. Perhaps I've grown numb to seeing condo building going up in Charlotte. A recent article in the Charlotte Observer has renewed my interest in the project and I will make it a point today to grab some photos. Read More to Continue.

The internet was offline at my place for two straight days. I'd much prefer to have my goddam cable out for two days, than my internet. Who is to blame? AT&T. I understand the service on my iPhone is going to suck...I've come to terms with that, but once you start fucking with my internet, I'm going to get pissed. AT&T is the wholesale internet provider for Charlotte Wi-Fi. Since I subscribe to Charlotte Wi-Fi, I am essentially at the mercy of AT&T and their shitty-ass "network" for all my online needs. I spent most of Saturday at the pool chugging Bud Lites and watching boobs. A text message came across my phone around 4pm. It was from an acquaintance of mine requesting my presence at some party he was having over at Kazba in the Epicenter. I was hesitant to accept purely because I wasn't in the mood to interact with anyone...but being that I'd never ventured to Kazba before, I decided to go. Read More to Continue

First off, I'll address the NBA Draft that took place last night. I personally am completely indifferent when it comes to the NBA. I don't love it, nor do I hate it. I think it is very good for Charlotte that we have a team. Sadly, that team is terrible and will continue to be terrible. There wasn't a lot of talent in this years draft and that was just shitty luck. Just like it was shitty that Andrew Luck was one year away from becoming a Panther. I know people are excited about Kemba Walker, but he really won't change anything. I hope the Bobcats don't end up getting sold like the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL did recently. It is kind of a sad thing to see. Read More to Continue

Tail 4

**The Tail Chronicles is mainly for me to put into words how a night of boozing, women, and poor decisions came to pass. I feel that it would only benefit me to take a step back and revisit these nights, so I may either learn to relive each of them again, or avoid them all together**

Tail Chronicles #4

The popular kids at my high school called themselves "The Cool Breezers"...what a bunch of fucking morons. They all turned out to be fat and miserable later in life. I never identified myself as one of them although I easily could have. I was good in sports, didn't look like a complete troll, and proficient enough in the classroom so as not to be labeled a dumb jock. I was friends with everyone. Rule #1 to getting a chick is to be friendly. When I meet a girl in a bar, I never go into it thinking that I want to fuck them. I go into it thinking that I want them to fuck me. There is a big difference. If you see a smoking hot girl in a bar, you need to find a time to "bump" into her...let her know you're friendly, but not down to fuck her. Make some small talk for about a minute, and then get the fuck away. Read More to Continue.

It has occurred to me that many of you work, and therefore are in desperate need of a way to kill time while you stare all zombie-like at a goddam computer screen. Here are five sites that can help you shave some minutes off your day.

1. Business: Forbes.com Why? Forbes tends to be less about charts and graphs, and more about insightful stories pertaining to entrepreneurship. If small business is your thing...this site should motivate you.
2. Celebrities: Popeater.com Why? This blog is updated multiple times a day and contains news on just about everyone. They often link videos that are otherwise hard to find.
3. Random News: Fark.com Why? Updated regularly with links to offbeat stories. They take pride in writing witty headlines. A loyal following post comments to almost every link...sometimes the comments are better than the actual article.
4. Sports: SI.com Why? I prefer Sports Illustrated mainly because of Peter King's Monday Morning QB post that is available every Monday very early in the morning. Not only does he touch on things outside the NFL, but the post is generally six pages long which entertains for quite some time.
5. Local News: City-Data.com Why? Written by the people for the people. People start threads on a wide range of topics for just about every city in America. Simply go to the forum section and enjoy hours of reading about peoples' random trials and tribulations.

Unlike most of the girls I went to high school with, I actually enjoy eating meals. I especially enjoy breakfast. I decided to venture out to Maria's Grill to check out their $2.99 breakfast special. Being that Maria's is opened at the 6am hour, it is naturally appealing to me. You're bound to see some off-duty cops in their drinking coffee. If you have a warrant out for your arrest, I avoid this place. Otherwise, I highly recommend you check it out. They offer lunch and dinner as well but I cannot attest to how good it is. If it is anything like their breakfast, I'd give it a go.

I wish Uptown Charlotte had more places open for business around 5:30am. More specifically, I wish it had more breakfast joints opened. If you're like me, and hate people, then 5:30am is the ideal time to get out and get shit done. First thing on my list is usually to eat. The Midnight Diner is open 24hrs but it is to far of a walk for me every morning. Dunkin Donuts opens at 6am, but they have shitty chicken biscuits. I regularly go to Showmars in the Hearst Tower, but that gets old. This morning I drove about two minutes down 3rd St. to the Bojangles. Being that they open at 5am and have amazing iced tea, this place will probably become a more regular stop for me. I just hate having to drive. Anyways, I'm relatively sure I'll spend many hours in front of the TV this morning watching Wimbledon. Those nicely manicured lawns speak to my soul...I don't care much for the tennis though. Enjoy your day.

I decided to go away for awhile and I set my sites on Charleston, S.C. As many of you know, Charleston is beautiful and expensive. It is a solid place to go to eat well, enjoy the beach, and reflect on life. I found myself doing all three with great ease. I'm unsure when I plan to return, but it will be sooner rather than later.
