Why, hello. Sorry for not posting for a few days. The truth is that I'm lazy as shit at times and just couldn't bring my pudgy fingers to type anything. Sad, but very true. When I search the annals of my mind (and yes, I did just type "annals") for what I've been doing for the past few days...not a lot comes up. I'm sure there are a few things worth noting, but I can't think of them at the moment. I did eat at King's Kitchen last night in Uptown Charlotte. Read More to Continue.
King's Kitchen is a little different from your ordinary restaurant. I copied a passage from their website that clearly explains what the joint is all about: "The King’s Kitchen is an outreach of Restoration Word Ministries managed by Jim Noble Restaurants that donates 100% of profits from sales to feed the poor in Charlotte, the region, and the world. Additionally, The King’s Kitchen partners with area ministries to provide employment opportunities to Charlotteans in search of a new beginning".
The concept is cool. I am all for giving people another shot at life. King's Kitchen is something I can definitely get behind.
Now to review the food. I started with a house salad, but asked them to substitute the Blue Cheese dressing for Ranch. Unfortunately, I did not get my wish BUT one has to remember that these aren't professional waiters so I'm cool with it. The salad was fine. I believe it was sprinkled with some pepper mix which I actually really enjoyed.
I ordered the entree that they claim to be famous for, Aunt Beaut's Pan Fried Chicken. With your entree, you get to choose three sides. My selections were mac n' cheese, mashed potatoes, and green beans. All three were very good. The mac n' cheese was the standout. As for the chicken, it was good. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was amazing...but it was very good.
And now, for the service. The waiter I had was very nice. He was attentive not only to me, but to the tables around me. He gave his honest opinion of the what he liked and tried very hard to make sure you ordered something you would like. I wish there were more waiters in the city like him to be honest. Every person on the staff seemed to go out of their way to make people feel comfortable. I'm going to go ahead and give the service an A+.
If you have a chance to visit King's Kitchen, I think you definitely should. It will be a little different then what your use to, but if you know the story behind the joint, then I think you'll understand.
