Since I’ve been spending most of my time going to and from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, I thought I’d write about one of the fine dining establishments I tend to visit on my way. If you take Morehead St. out of the city, you’ll pass Pinky’s on your right just as you cross over Freedom Dr. Known for their burgers, Pinky’s is a laid back burger joint that serves up some delicious food. I sat down in Pinky’s about a week ago and immediately dialed up some Crab Puppies. Basically, crab puppies are hush puppies with crab in them. They are amazing. Knowing about the delicious burgers at Pinky’s, I immediately ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries as my entrée.
I hosed about three Coor’s Light’s as I downed my thirteen crab puppies and took in the ambience. Pinky’s is a lot like the Penguin (another great Charlotte burger joint). The inside is wood booths, dim lights, eclectic decorations, and friendly staff. There are a few TV’s over the bar and some decent tunes in the background. If you just want to chill-out, have some beers, and eat delicious food, Pinky’s is the place for you.
I typically stop on my way to the airport, and on my way home from the airport. Parking at Pinky’s is a bit limited and overflow is directed across the street. That would be my only knock on the joint. Other than that, Pinky’s is a great burger joint to greet newcomers to the city, or welcome home locals.
