The Charlotte John

I decided to head to Brazwells on Montford for some dinner this past weekend. Seeing that the CIAA was occupying Uptown Charlotte, I felt it necessary to get out of dodge. Normally, I don’t eat when visiting Brazwells. I’ve always felt it to be a good place to grab a few beers and stare at chicks. The place itself isn’t really geared toward an eatery. If you come in around 8pm, chances are you will have people standing right next to you as you try and eat. Tables are limited. Read More to Continue.
The kid in me wanted to order mozzarella sticks…and so I did. The sticks themselves were awesome. They had a flaky, golden crust and creamy mozzarella on the inside. They almost fall apart when you go to pick them up…that’s how you know they will be good. I hate rigid, overcooked mozzarella sticks. Brazwells does it right.

I hosed a few beers and then ordered the BBQ Chicken Platter. The portion was massive and there was no way I was finishing it…not with people watching. It wasn’t the greatest chicken in the world, but it got the job done. The sauce was very good, so I will give them that. The chicken is served on a bed of rice which is something I always enjoy. It was a safe play…and I always play it safe at a bar that masks itself as a restaurant.

For a party of two at Brazwells, you’ll probably spend close to $70 after tip on dinner (if you both order appetizers). There are several other restaurants I would rather drop $70 on for dinner, but I do like Brazwells. As a bar, it is great. As a dinner spot, it is just average. The ambiance at Brazwells is worth the visit alone…be prepared to rub shoulders though.
